For 50 years commentators have observed that political candidates are packaged and sold
to the public like breakfast cereals or cigarettes. During the 2008 election campaign candidate Obama's staff did their best to keep his chain smoking habit a secret. Are the
promises made by our leaders any more believable than the packaging claims we see in the ads?
